13th April 2016: The 2016 season is almost upon us. The Welsh Baseball Union will be holding their annual general meeting on Tuesday 19th April 2016, at Canton Liberal Club, Cowbridge Rd @ 7:30pm.
All previous teams wishing to re-register, you can do so on this night. Also any new clubs wishing to register, pop along and notify the WBU of your interest and they’ll give as much support as they can in setting up your team for the coming season.
13th May 2015: The ladies league fixtures have been added to the fixtures page as they are available for download.
8th May 2015: Following on from last seasons very successful memorial game for Jimmy Ryan, this years event will be held at Tremorfa Park on Saturday 20th June. Over £6000 was raised at last years game as this year the organisers are hoping to raise even more for pancreatic cancer research. The game will once again be played between a Wales Select and Penylan Baseball Club. A great day out for a very worthy cause,please come along and support a great charity.

6th April 2015: Llanrumney RFC have already entered the league for this season,with at least 1 other new club also looking to join.
3rd April 2015: Congratulations to big John Dunleavy on winning the WBU player of the year for 2014. The big man has been on the brink of the award on several occasions, and finally took the main award for last season Well done John!!
Grange Catholics youngster Daniel Noyes won most promising player of the year after a season that saw him take a very high number of catches for his team. A very bright future ahead of him.
26th July: The Welsh A side completely dominated todays international against England.Grange Albion strike bowler Matthew Hopkins once again entered the record books by dropping all 11 english batsmen for only 1 hit run amd just 3 extras. The welsh team then went into bat, with team manager Chris Duffin making a shrewd decision to declare on only 44 for 1. This turned out to be a great decision, as a mixture of David Burnett and St Albans star player Mike Brind, combined to remove england for 24 runs.
A fantastic day was had by all, with thanks to Whiteheads and Coors brewery for making the event so memorable.
12th July: The Wales B team were triumphant over their English counterparts by an innings in Liverpool today. The Welsh boys hit 98 for 8 declared with Simon Wozencroft -12, Ben Canham – 14, Luke Phillips – 22 including five 4’s.
Luke Fish then polished off the English side for only 39 runs, before Josh Dunleavy did an even better job by skittling them out for just 19 in their follow on.
A fantastic win, well done boys.
15th June: The game between the Wales select and a Penylan select was a huge success, with a crowd of over 400 present at the harlequins ground to watch a fantastic game. The real winner was Pancreatic Cancer Research as the day raised over £6,200. There are plans to make it an annual event which will only stand to benefit both the diamond game and the selected charity.
23rd May: The WBU will be jointly running a schools tournament with Sport Cardiff on Tuesday 3rd June at Heath Park. There will be a Primary school tournament in the morning followed by a secondary school tournament in the afternoon. This will be a welcome step in the right direction for the WBU and schools baseball, with the tournament returning after a several year absence.
7th May : This seasons Wales v England International game will be held at Whiteheads Sports Ground in Newport on Saturday 26th July, 2pm Knock-Off. The Whiteheads committee are spending a considerable sum on having the pitch re-layed so this event should be a great sporting spectacle.
7th May 2014: Hi all, there is a meeting at canton liberal club, Cowbridge rd east, next Wednesday (14th) at 7pm, for the youth baseball for the coming season. 2nd November: A great night was had by all at the youth presentation last night. Below are 2 photos from the night.

26th August: The WBU baseball presentation will be held at Canton liberal club,cardiff on Friday 20th September, arriving at 7pm for a 730pm Start. There will be a buffet and a first class singer for your entertainment.
The Welsh Ladies Baseball Union Presentation Evening will be held on Saturday 28th September 2013 at Fairwater Social club club,Plasmawr Road, Fairwater, Cardiff CF5 3TD. 7 pm till late. Presentation will commence at 7 pm.
14th August:Congratulations to Grange Albion on winning the premier division title and the prestigious dewar shield for the 6th time in succession. After beating Grange Catholics by an innings the Albion cemented their position as the top team in baseball.
11th August: Congratulations to Rumney RFC on winning the Silverbowl by beating an experienced St Michaels OB side in a great game. The underdogs sealed the win after a gutsy performance that defied the form book and took one of the oldest trophies in baseball back to riverside park.
10th August: Congratulations to Grange Catholics on winning the Ted Peterson cup by beating their biggest rivals Grange Albion, in the final. A fantastic game of baseball played with great spirit by both sides.
4th August: The venue and date for the Silverbowl final has been changed. The game will now take place on Sunday 11th August at Tremorfa Park, Knockoff is 2pm.
3rd August: Congratulations to Grange Albion on a very narrow victory over an excellent St Albans team in the Bill Barrett Cup Final.
24th July: Congratulations to Pill Harriers on winning the first division after a close fought league.
17th July: The under 14 cup final will take place at Riverside Park (Home of Rumney RFC) on Saturday 3rd August, at 12pm. This final will be contested by Caerau Ely and Rumney RFC, and will take place immediately before the Bill Barrett cup final at the same venue.
The youth cup finals are normally cracking games, so please come out and show your support to the diamond stars of tomorrow.
15th July: we have our annual youth baseball festival this Sunday 21st July at Tremorfa park at 10am.This festival is open to under 12 / 14 and 16s boys and girls.
This is a great opportunity to see the next generation of baseball stars on the diamond.
5th July: This seasons Under 16 International will no longer be a Wales v England International due to circumstances beyond our control. The game will go ahead as planned but will be an “Invitational Select Exhibition Match”.

16th June: The Wales under 14 trial will take place on Monday 24th June @ Riverside Park (Rumney RFC) @6pm. To be eligible for the trial,all players MUST be PLAYING baseball (not just registered with) for a side in the Under 14 league. No exceptions.

12th May: We have decided on a format that will hopefully lead to a more competitive league for this season, with plenty to play for until the very end.
The competing sides are as follows:
St Peters RFC
The format is as follows:
1. All 8 teams will play in the premier division, and will play each other once.
2. After everyone has played each other once, there will be a league “split”.
3. The top 4 teams in the league will again play each other once, with the prize being the DEWAR SHIELD.
4. The bottom 4 sides will play each other once, with the prize being the FIRST DIVISION SHIELD.
5. The bottom 4 sides will also play a separate cup competition for the SILVER BOWL.
The Ted Peterson Cup and the Bill Barrett Cup will be contested by all 8 Sides.
The Silver Bowl will be contested by the bottom 4 sides only.
This will ensure that ALL sides will have something to play for and will ensure a much more competitive league from start to finish.
23rd April: This seasons England v Wales International will take place on Saturday 13th July in Liverpool, and the Wales B v England B will take place on Saturday 27th July at Whiteheads Sports Ground,Newport.
21st April: This seasons mens league starts on Saturday 18th May and the ladies season starts on 2nd May.
The petition was handed in today, with over 750 names on it. There were league representatives from baseball (both mens and ladies), softball, football and cricket. We were also supported by Andrew Davies AM.
16th April: the WBU will once again have St Albans Baseball Club back in its ranks for the 2013 season,after missing last season. The Buns have a great history in Welsh Baseball and will be a welcome addition to this years league.
15th April: Paying in / Registration night for all WBU mens league clubs will be held at Canton Liberal club, Cowbridge Rd, on Tuesday 16th April between 7pm and 8pm. New teams very welcome.
15th April: The petition for the pitch hikes is being handed in at 2.00pm on Thursday 18th at County Hall in the Bay.
The TV cameras are going to be there and we’ve been asked to get as much support there as possible from the baseball community
