The showcase event of the year is the men’s international between Wales and England, which is held alternately in Merseyside and South Wales.
The match was first held in 1908, under a compromise set of rules, at the Harlequins Ground in Cardiff, when Wales won by four men holding in front of 2,000 spectators.
A unified set of rules between the Welsh and English bodies was formalised in 1927 with the formation of the International Baseball Board, which remains the sport’s governing body, with representatives from the WBU and the English Baseball Association.
The international has been held in such prestigious venues as CardiffArmsPark, the home of Welsh rugby, SophiaGardens, now an international cricket ground, and GoodisonPark, home of the famous Everton soccer club.
The big match has attracted large crowds of five figures in the past and has been covered on television. To see video highlights follow these links: 1980 19811982
